The Alternating Flout™

A method to ALTERNATE the Flout™ Dosing Distribution Device is now available.

The alternating device is mounted on the vent pipes of two identical Flouts and controls which one will trigger. A see-saw shaped bucket changes it’s position during each discharge cycle. A control float and latch mechanism directs the bucket to change position at a fixed point during the discharge cycle.

The Flout on the lower side of the bucket will trigger because it is restrained by the bucket. The other Flout will not trigger since it is unrestrained. The triggered Flout will sink and discharge the chamber. The untriggered Flout remains floating and follows the surface down during the discharge.

During the fill cycle, effluent fills the high side of the bucket. During the discharge cycle, the control float releases the bucket, allowing the heavier high side to fall to the other side. The opposite Flout will then be restrained during the next cycle.

Alternating Flouts effectively double the dosing capacity of the chamber. This is achieved automatically, without any power, wires, switches, or controllers.

TECH NOTES:

•Drawdowns of 15” through 30” available.
•Minimum drawdown for alternator to function: 15”
•Distance between vents: 12”OC
•Multiple outlet Flouts may be used. Maintain 12”OC between closest vents of each group.
•Constructed of PVC, polyethylene, fiberglass, and stainless steel.

FIELD RESTING can be accomplished by simply pulling up the float and latch mechanism with a cord and tying it off. The ALTERNATOR will allow only one FLOUT™ to operate. The other field can be brought back on line be releasing the cord, forcing down either of both FLOUTS ™, draining the chamber, causing the bucket to cycle, and then retie the cord!
